Our 8:40 outing began with spectacular views surrounding the ship. After a quick breakfast, we climbed into the Zodiac for a short ride to shore. We had missed last nights briefing and when we saw our landing site, we had a great deal of trepidation. The path led up and up and up! Switchbacks to the top! Kathy made it more than halfway and I decided to continue. Near the peak, it got very slippery, but a bit of sidestepping got me to the top and beautiful views, not clear, but snowy looks at the mountains and waterways.
I had my picture taken, took photos of a couple of Chinstrap Penguins, then magic! Two Chinstraps mating!!!
The trek down was a bit easier, though slippery as the snow/ice that was falling was adding an ice sheen to the pathway. At the bottom I saw several Gentoo Penguins swimming like ducks.

I’m going to be very upset if you don’t bring a Gentoo home with you.
